If you were asked to write a list of the top five qualities you hope to find in a dating services partner, what would they be? I’ll tell you what mine would be: honesty, intelligence, sense of humor, integrity and kindness. As far as I’m concerned, those are the five qualities that are absolutely essential when looking for a mate. Sure, it’s nice if the guy is great-looking, but good looks don’t always translate into a good partnership; actually, they rarely do. It’s what the person is like inside that really matters. And have you ever noticed, that the stronger you begin to feel towards someone, the better looking they get? It’s crazy, but it’s true. And for me, the kinder the person is toward me and others, the better he looks to me.
You should know right from the start if your dating services date possesses the characteristics that are important to you. If a red flag shows up right away, trust your instincts; they are probably correct. A partnership between two people starts to work when the chemistry between them is right. And if your partner is kind, considerate, thoughtful, polite and trustworthy, this person should certainly qualify for a second or third look. Don’t underestimate or take for granted a quality such as kindness. It’s not always as easy to find in a person as you might think.
Consider your own personality. Are you kind? Being a kind person doesn’t mean you are a doormat or can’t make up your own mind. It simply means that you take other people’s feelings into consideration. And this is extremely important particularly when you are looking to move forward in a relationship. You cannot always put your needs first, so exhibiting a kind personality is definitely a plus.
Kindness is a quality you simply cannot fake. It’s not something you can pretend to be—you either are or you’re not. Listen carefully to your dating services date. Listen to how he talks about others in his life—his friends and family. The way he speaks about other people will be a great indicator of whether or not he is a kind and loving person. If he is constantly talking in a negative or optimistic manner, you have to ask yourself why this person is so unhappy. One thing can certainly lead to another, so if he has a negative way of speaking about himself or others, this can also mean he’s not a particularly kind-hearted soul.
Obviously, this is a generalization and it’s hard to make snap judgments regarding people’s personalities. If you really like your date, then certainly take some time to get to know them. But before you do, you should go into the situation knowing what it is you are looking for in another person. Again, list the top 5 qualities that are important to you. If your date only seems to have 2 or 3 of those characteristics, perhaps you’ll need to move on to the next one. The one who has all five! After all, you deserve it.
