Should your Dating Services Partner visit you at Work?

Isn’t it wonderful when two people find each other, hit it off and the bastion of first love starts to bloom? There is no rhyme or reason as to where love hides and how to find it, but many people are choosing to use dating services in order to expand their horizons and open up their world to opportunity.  If you’re one of the lucky ones who is now in a full-fledge relationship with someone you met online, congratulations.  Now comes the hard part…

Relationships ebb and flow; many couples understand they are in for both good times and bad.  Communication is always essential to keep things between the two of you going well, and boundaries need to be established from the start.  So the question is: should your partner visit you where you work?  There is no right or wrong answer to this question; it certainly depends upon you and your place of employment.

If you work in a service industry such as a restaurant or coffeehouse, it seems perfectly fine and natural for your partner to show up once in awhile.  He or she can sit in your serving station, sit at the bar and watch you mix the drinks, or whip up a delicious café latte.  However, if your date stays for hours and causes distraction that keeps you from doing your work, your supervisor certainly will not be pleased.

If you work in an office, this may be frowned upon altogether.  Unless your significant other is coming in to take you out for lunch or has legitimate business in the office, it’s probably not a good idea to mix business with pleasure.  You will certainly be unable to work if you have your boyfriend or girlfriend sitting there ogling you for hours.  It’s unprofessional and more than likely your co-workers and boss will think it’s inappropriate.

We all know how head over heels you feel when you first fall in love and begin a new relationship.  But you need to be able to put those feelings aside in order to proceed with your life and get your work accomplished.  It won’t do anyone any good, least of all you, if you wind up getting fired from your job because your partner is around all the time.  You should also keep these things in mind if you’re the one doing the visiting.  It’s fun once in awhile to see your partner in action, and doing something they are presumably very good at it.  But remember to keep these visitations to a minimum.  Feel free to let your love affair evolve, but do it on your own time!
