I recently read that 1 out of every 3 couples meet online. I’m no math wizard or anything, but those statistics sound about right to me. If I think of all the people I know who have met each other online, it seems like those numbers will begin to increase very soon. There are no certainties in life, so couples who meet through a dating service may not go the distance. But there are plenty of couples who have met through other avenues, such as meeting at a party or fixed up by friends, and they haven’t been able to keep the relationship going. In the end, it’s not where or how you meet, but who you are as a couple and if you are compatible enough to keep the relationship alive and kicking.
If you’re single and sick of it, why wouldn’t you use a dating service? It’s easy and fun, and allows you to bring into your life, people you wouldn’t normally encounter. I don’t really understand why it gets harder to meet people as we get older. I suppose, as people marry, have children and become ensconced with their jobs and families, are world tends to shrink and we don’t have the opportunities we did when we were younger to meet new people. That’s why dating services are so great. You can meet people from all different walks of life, and even from all over the world; though doing that may cause problems if you actually want to date in person!
Since I write about dating and relationships for a living, I’m always intrigued as to how couples meet. And I’ve been hearing more and more successful stories about people meeting online. Of course there is always the old ways of meeting someone new: getting fixed up by friends, meeting at a club or party (though less people are meeting this way than you might believe) or simply picking someone up in a public place such as a bookstore or grocery store (I know a few people who have met this way.) But more and more singles are turning to the Internet to find love and companionship. And in doing so, more singles are finding compatible partners through the extensive variety of dating services and websites out there.
It may not be for you. And that’s okay. But if you are having a difficult time meeting new people and want your social life to increase, you should definitely consider trying a dating service. There are plenty to choose from, and if you’re not willing to invest any money at this point in the process, there are also a lot of free sites that you can turn to. So get in the game. You really have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Start perusing the many services out there to find the right one for you. And perhaps one or two months from now, you’ll find your social calendar filled with more dates than you can handle. Enjoy yourself!
